Lesson 13:
Neural Networks in the Wild- Can a Computer Learn to Tell Corn from Cows?

Course Content

Lesson Plan

In this lesson, students explore how neural networks learn from data by experimenting with TensorFlow Playground to adjust structures, parameters, and activation functions.

They observe how these changes affect accuracy and connect neural network concepts to real-world uses of AI, such as distinguishing between cornfields and cows in agricultural contexts.

Presentation Slides

1.   Students will understand what a neural

network (NN) is and how it learns from data

2.  Students will explore how neural networks

     process information through layers

3.  Students will use TensorFlow Playground (a

no-code tool) to train a neural network

4.  Students will experiment with neural

     network parameters and observe their

     effects on accuracy

5.  Students will relate neural networks to real-

     world, small-town applications
