Lesson Plan

In this lesson, students learn the basics of prompting and the importance of ethical considerations to prevent the misuse of generative AI tools. Prompting / prompt engineering is a key skill for students to learn. 

 

Many lessons in this foundations course will review the concept and apply it to more AI areas (Language models, data analysis, computer vision, etc). Additionally, throughout the course, we will introduce new Generative AI tools for prompting and increasingly more complex ways to use them. As the teacher, you can refer back to this lesson any time the students need a refresher in the basics of promoting.

Objectives for the slides

1.   Define and explain prompt engineering in the

     context of AI
2.  Identify characteristics of effective prompts to

     achieve desired outputs
3.  Practice prompting with at least 2 Generative AI

     tools
4. Understand the need for ethical use of Generative

    AI tools
